Providers quote internet speed in megabits per second (Mbit/s), while file sizes are measured in megabytes (MB). A byte is eight bits, so a 100 Mbit/s plan downloads at most 12.5 MB/s. The calculator accounts for this.
Real speed is usually below the plan speed because of network load, server limits and protocol overhead. Add 10–20 % to the estimate. You can measure your actual speed with a speed test.
